Roundtable 4: Capstone
This capstone discussion brought together key findings from previous roundtables on the government’s role in hiring, using, and buying AI. Participants emphasized the need for more flexible, well-resourced agencies, with investments in personnel, data, and infrastructure to fully realize the benefits of AI. Transparency emerged as a critical theme for maintaining public trust, while the conversation also highlighted the enduring importance of human oversight in AI-enabled government functions. While policy language may shift between administrations, the core challenges and goals of responsible AI use in government are likely to persist.
