Continuing Elimination of Wasteful Spending at the DoD

The Department of Defense is intensifying efforts to eliminate wasteful spending by terminating contracts for IT consulting and administrative services that can be handled internally. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has directed a major in-sourcing initiative, aiming to leverage existing civilian workforce capabilities while saving billions. These actions target duplicative and non-essential activities, such as certain DEI, climate, and COVID-19 response contracts, allowing funds to be redirected toward mission-critical defense priorities. A full audit of software licensing and negotiations for better IT service rates are also underway to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency.
