Big Tech’s Free Online Services Aren’t Costing Consumers Their Privacy

U.S. antitrust doctrine has long focused on the consumer welfare standard, particularly the effect of competition on prices. This poses a challenge for anti-“Big Tech” activists (neo-Brandeisians) because many digital services—search, social media, and so forth—are free.

So, where is the consumer harm from more concentrated markets? There is none.
