Understanding how Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participation is reported in consumer data is essential for shaping policies on food security and public assistance. This report analyzes the Circana Consumer Network Panel, a dataset tracking food-at-home purchases, to assess how well it reflects SNAP participation. Findings reveal discrepancies between self-reported participation and actual usage, indicating underreporting of SNAP benefits. By improving data accuracy, researchers and policymakers can gain a clearer picture of food purchasing behaviors and ensure better support for SNAP households.
