Labor Force Statistics of Veterans with Disabilities

Learn more about the current population labor force statistics from government programs for veteran survey and program participation for select federal government programs for veterans with disabilities. In 2023, there were 17.8 million veterans in the civilian, non-institutionalized population. Of those, 5.2 million, 30 percent reported having a service-connected disability and 4.6 million, 26 percent, as having a disability. In comparison, there were 239.8 million nonveterans, and of those, 28.5 million non-veterans, or 12 percent of all non-veterans, reported having a disability.
