Over the past decade, Congress, the Department of Defense (DOD), and other federal agencies have engaged in several initiatives to enhance cyber defense and warfighting capabilities and build a workforce with the technical skills needed to protect and manage digital infrastructure.
The House-passed (H.R. 7900, 117th Congress) and Senate Armed Services Committee reported (S. 4543, 117th Congress) FY 2023 National Defense Authorization Act included several provisions that relate to recruiting, retention, and career management of DOD military and civilian personnel in cyber career fields.
