U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Environmental Justice Activities and Programs

For decades, policymakers and stakeholders have raised concerns regarding the disproportionate effects of environmental pollution among different communities and populations in the United States.

The consideration of environmental justice across federal programs and activities is not mandated in statute. Several executive orders have provided direction to federal agencies to incorporate environmental justice considerations in their policies and programs, within the bounds of existing statutes.
