U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom 2025 Annual Report

Religious freedom remains under siege across the globe, as authoritarian regimes and nonstate actors alike intensified their repression in 2024. From Nicaragua’s assault on clergy to China’s ideological control of religious life, the report paints a stark picture of how belief is targeted and criminalized. The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom urges both Congress and the administration to take firmer actions—including designating violators, sanctioning abusers, and resettling at-risk refugees. Amid rising antisemitism, anti-Muslim rhetoric, and transnational repression, the need for principled international engagement has never been more urgent.
