The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement Made Progress in Implementing Corrective Actions to Improve Its Oil Spill Preparedness Program

The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) is responsible for ensuring operators of offshore facilities are ready to mitigate and respond to oil spills that may result from their activities.

In October 2018, we issued an evaluation report, BSEE Has Opportunities To Help Industry Improve Oil Spill Preparedness (Report No. 2017–EAU–043). In this report, we reviewed the extent to which the eight recommendations made in our 2018 evaluation report were implemented.
