Large-scale combat operations will require unprecedented integration between special operations forces and conventional forces to synchronize effects across domains. This paper examines how command and control relationships, interoperability, and mutual dependencies in intelligence, fires, and sustainment must evolve to enable lethality and survivability. Drawing on training and operational examples, it highlights friction points between SOF and conventional units and argues for adaptive leadership, shared understanding, and flexible command structures. The authors emphasize training to fight in contested environments and integrating SOF capabilities early in joint operations.
