Executive Order 14428: Providing Meaningful Water Quality Improvements Through Collaboration and Oversight of Federal Support

E.O. 14428 establishes a new federal approach to improving Chesapeake Bay water quality by prioritizing projects that produce measurable reductions in nutrient and sediment pollution. The order revokes E.O. 13508 and directs federal agencies to assess their Chesapeake Bay support and focus funding and personnel on direct, on-the-ground projects in areas of greatest need. It also requires EPA to coordinate with watershed states and Washington, D.C., to examine the financial burden of stormwater management fees, explore approaches that do not increase costs for individual residents, and encourage the repeal or rescission of such fees.
