Preserving America’s Game

Executive Order 14396 establishes a federal policy supporting the preservation of the Army-Navy Game’s traditional place on the second Saturday in December. The order cites concerns that expanding College Football Playoff and postseason schedules could diminish national attention for the historic rivalry between the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy. It directs the Department of Commerce and the Federal Communications Commission to work with college football organizations and broadcasters to create an exclusive broadcast window for the game while evaluating whether it should continue to be recognized as a national service event in the public interest.
