K-12 AI Infrastructure: Findings from Educator and Developer Outreach

This report presents findings from the K-12 AI Infrastructure Program’s outreach to educators, developers, and stakeholders from late 2025 to mid-2026. It highlights the disconnect between generic commercial AI tools and classroom needs, emphasizing the demand for tools aligned with district curricula, student populations, and formative assessment goals. To solve current safety, privacy, and efficacy limitations, the authors advocate for publicly available, modular infrastructure—including child speech datasets, knowledge graphs, shared benchmarks, and context engineering—rather than proprietary vendor solutions.
