Executive Order 14423: Establishing the United States Space Academy

Executive Order 14423 establishes a Presidential Commission to develop recommendations for creating the United States Space Academy, a proposed NASA-led Federal academy focused on technical education, leadership development, public service, and national security. The initiative aims to strengthen the Nation’s space workforce by preparing future astronauts, scientists, engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, civil servants, and warfighters.

The Commission must deliver recommendations within 120 days addressing the Academy’s governance, academic programs, admissions requirements, service obligations, location, Federal partnerships, legislative needs, and implementation strategy. The order positions the proposed Academy as a long-term workforce development initiative supporting U.S. leadership in space exploration, technology, defense, and the commercial space economy.
