Executive Order 14344: Making Federal Architecture Beautiful Again

Executive Order 14344 calls for a renewed focus on beauty and tradition in Federal architecture. Drawing inspiration from Washington and Jefferson, the order emphasizes classical and traditional styles that embody dignity, civic virtue, and America’s democratic heritage. It directs the General Services Administration to prioritize designs that inspire the public and visibly reflect the role of government buildings as centers of civic life. Where modernist or deconstructivist designs are proposed, they must be justified with clear reasoning and cost considerations.
