2024 Lobbying Disclosure: Observations on Compliance with Requirements

Lobbying disclosures are holding steady, with most lobbyists meeting legal requirements and providing proper documentation for their activities. However, GAO’s audit revealed persistent gaps, like undisclosed past government roles and missed political contributions. Despite repeated enforcement efforts, thousands of cases remain unresolved, highlighting the ongoing challenge of accountability in federal lobbying. Even so, most lobbyists report that filing and understanding requirements is relatively straightforward.
