As brain-computer interface (BCI) technology advances, it’s reshaping how Special Operations Forces may operate—enhancing not just physical and cognitive performance, but also mission execution and decision-making. This report explores a third path in human augmentation: leveraging operators’ existing strengths, such as intuition and tacit knowledge, rather than just compensating for limitations. It outlines a future where BCIs may guide situational awareness, stealth, and adaptability in high-risk, high-tech environments. But the integration of such tools also raises ethical, operational, and human-machine tradeoff questions critical to the future of warfare.
