Secure Hardware Assurance Reference Dataset (SHARD) Program

The CHIPS Act of 2022 is setting the stage for more powerful design checking tools to reduce errors in digital designs. Drawing from nearly two decades of experience with the Software Assurance Reference Dataset (SARD), there is a need for a similar resource in hardware: the Secure Hardware Assurance Reference Dataset (SHARD).

Public benchmarks for hardware designs with known bugs are currently lacking, making SHARD an invaluable addition to the assurance community. Through SHARD, we aim to identify common formats, assess hardware design examples, and standardize how we report and scale these findings.
