PeriOptimization—Optimizing VA Efficiency, Patient Safety and Access to Care

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) promoted the development of PeriOptimization as a modern, customizable web application to address challenges with modernization. Designed in collaboration with clinicians and supported by the VA’s National Center for Patient Safety, the system provides bi-directional integration with VistA/CPRS and VSE. By reducing redundancy, enabling real-time reporting, and prioritizing speed and simplicity, the platform improves efficiency while addressing physician and nurse burnout.
