Issues in Law Enforcement Reform: Responding to Mental Health Crises

This study examines law enforcement programs for mental health crises. The paper describes municipal governments’ specialized approaches to mental health emergencies. It also addresses alternate solutions’ effectiveness and then discusses federal programs that could support them. Finally, the paper highlights policymaker considerations if Congress takes up more legislation on this issue.
