America’s Front Line Cyber Challenges

In today’s digital age, nearly every police car, ambulance, and firetruck operates as a mobile computer. Combine that with an overall growth in endpoint devices across federal law enforcement agencies, state and local police forces, 911 call centers, fire departments (both volunteer and paid), and paramedic units in recent years, and it is clear that America’s first responder community has a complex and unique set of cyber protection and operational assurance challenges on its hands.

In a community where any lag in access to systems or data – whether it be the result of cyberattack, hardware failure, or human error – results in an interruption to critical constituent services, the stakes are high for first responder IT teams. Not only must they protect assets against digital compromise every second of every day, they must also spin up and refresh devices at a faster clip than ever before.
